One of the things I've been working on when I'm... not at work. It's supposed to be CD cover art.

The brief was 'we want a lorikeet, but it has to be sort of grunge and it has to have its wings extended so you can see all the colours'.

...grunge lorikeet... hmm.

So far this is one of the versions I've created. I'm working on two others, one of which involves a coat of arms. I really need feedback people. I'll have to admit I've been stumped from the beginning with the 'grunge lorikeet' part.

Part of a much bigger idea. Maybe a very short 'short' in process with lot's of ofther bits and bob's to add to it. It started as a test: to see what I could remember without digging through referances (More like a test for my jellyfied and overly caffinated brain) and it's slowly growing into something through ideas i've worked on in my sketch book.

This is one of many things I have going in tandem at the moment. I didn't want to post anything untill I had worked on it a bit more, but i think it's about time i posted something rather than leaving it at nothing at all.

Soon I'll port my work for the album cover I've been working on, as well as a few sketckes and thought bubbles.

A few sketches I've done. Some are even from the sketch -crawl :) I finished work late that day so I just bummed around at a cafe and drew afterwards.

I'm still so in love with Nico Marlet's fluidity and use of shape and silhouette in his design. I think i need to work mostly on the silhouette part. Hopefully I'll be able to produced designs that seem as magic and appealing as his one day.

This is a quick sketch I did months ago of an 95 European (German, I think) woman, who came into the cafe every so often to taste a 'bit of home'. I always though she had the most beautiful features and personality.

Sadly, she passed away not too long ago.

So, where every you are Dobos Lady... I hope they make cakes as scrumptious as they do here. And it so have a piece for me too, will ya? Cheers.

I've been working on my cartooning skills. Probably the only good thing with the world at large today: lot's of subject matter.

I've been busty with just working in a cafe to pay the bills the last couple of months. Growing up kinda sucks. I've been feeling the need to revert back to a four year old and star throwing a lung-ripping tantrum. meh.

Among surviving, I recently brought a table at the recently passed Brisvagas supernaover. If I get a bit of time to put aside, I'll do up a post on the experience, encase anyone else is looking into it. But yeah: was awesome. The httyd picture was a limited edition 2011 print I made for the expo. In fact, if anyone's interested in a singed copy *wink* I even have some left! Nothing like a bit of shameless self promotion, hehe :) Hope you enjoy it, anywho.

Well, for those who read 'All Farts' you'd have realized that the updates have been a little less regular the last couple of weeks. This is due to a couple of reasons. Mostly it is due to concentrating my focus more and more on completing my narrative on time.

But for my own sake I'll still post at least once a week. It is always good to have a continually updating collection of digital content, as previously pointed out by Will.

On Sunday night I got to see Despicable Me. The animation and design was so engaging! And the minions? If I had minions then they'd look like that...only probably with less teeth and more yellow. :D The only paramount issue I had with this fabulous film was the ending. The majority of the story is spent building the lives of these (majorly) four characters together like a gooey, sticky, cavity educing spider web of emotional fuzzy feelings. Then the ending -although not really lacking- wasn't all it could be, or so I felt. I was just craving this giant, exploding mass of mayhem equally balanced by the previously mentions emotional 'aww'ing. It was sort-of there...but not all there.

Then again it is Dreamworks. They'll probably do a sequel. I may have another chance at getting a slightly more crazy ending befitting the pace of this (first?) film.

After watching DM my thoughts were continuall occupied with a singel thought.

What had happened to all those gravity-defying minions floating around aimlessly in space?

I started sketching ideas, and decided to couple it together with Franks new WACOM OF AWESOME competition.

That's right. I'm Grol's stunt double. He's havin' a day of with the girls, so I get to play my hand at being despicable. Putting gum in little girls hair, feeding dogs peanut butter and laying glad-wrap over lavatory seats. And with that disguise? I'm INVISIBLE.

Don't feel like sunshine and lollipops. At least today has been an improvement from yesterday. I was in so much pain last night that I did not even manage to post a new blog: first time I've had class and not blogged that day/night since the start of the term.

Thinking of re-prioritizing. MY music video looks like it will need a lot more planning and time in order for it to look like something other than animated vomit. ...although...Jane might like that as an alternative animation-but no. I shaln't degrad THA much.

Yet.

So instead I was thinking of revisiting an idea I had last year about animating our (2nd year) class in place of this scene in beatle juice. That way everything is planned out for me, i can rotoscope and fit in some other alternate type animation to please the beast that is Janes criteraia, and it'll just be a fun spaz rather than something serious to take time away from my narrative.

Lessons in Sleeping

Ello' all.

Gave my first 'drawing lesson' today to the first years. Was a wee bit nervous and not sure about how well I communicated everything, but overall it was a fun experience. My narrative it still killing my brain as I slowly try to figure out how it will all come together. Off to Brisvagas again tomorrow to try and get some catch-up underway and in need of about three full days of uninterrupted sleep.

Today's image is of my good friend Chris at our now local cafe. He was about as buggered as me. We had a competition to see who would fall asleep first. He won.

What an awesome day.

Sketch: did on the weekend with pencil and ink for Frank's comp. T'was fun to do, if not very readable. It's of an old lady who pulled up beside us at a red light. She had subwoofers up so loud that it shook our car. I think she may have a faulty hearing aid. Granny's Rock.

Now for something different:

Cat Shit One (Japanese title) of Call of Shit (US title). A Japanese 3D animated series about an elite team of -wait for it- Black Ops Rabbits. Who reek havoc and hell on terrorist camels. Yup. Cute fuzzy bunnies blowing the fuck out of things. Offer them a carrot in a condescending tone of 'what's up doc?' and they'll kick your arse so hard it'll land between your ears.

This is actually pretty exiting for a number of factors. If it gets off the ground it'll probably be one of the first far-reaching and appealing 3D animated Japanese series ever released. This means their testing the waters out of the anime tide and getting a feel for a new market. It will be interesting to see the results of such an experiment and where this will lead on an international scale.

Also: the use of animals. What do the Rabbits represent? The Japanese? Are the camels meant to represent Arabian dissent? Are the use of animals more then a way of differentiating between races, and why? Whatever their purpose I like how the character designers cut out a space for the camels humps in the clothing that they wear.

Rig walk + Bus sketches

Wanted to finalize my animatic for my narrative today. It didn't happen. Had a brain shortage in that area. Instead I focused on my music vid walk cycle, seeing as we we're looking at walks and runs in class.

I'm using a flash rig for a double bounce walk cycle. Gives me something extra for my showreel. This demonstrates only the contacts, passing positions, highs and lows at this current point. He also has no arms yet, which will help in defining overall direction and movement.

Sketch wise: lots happened here today. Got an idea for a future-future project, and drew people on the train/bus/stations. Also thinking on doing a shot strip about this weekends election. *shudders* not a lot of options going on in that area.

The sketch i posted today was of a young up-the-duff (pregnant) mother smoking artfully while waiting for a bus, and an older man. He's a local. Always wears the same emerald green track-suit and unsure look on is face. I want to give him a hug... or maybe candy. He needs someone to put a smile on his dial, instead of ignoring him because he's unsure in a world full of self absorbed commercialists.

Didn't define him much, just a ruff gesture-sketch. I don't think he likes people looking at him.

How Not to get Hired

Blackmermaid is a team of two very talented people who champion the cause of self publishing for artist and writers alike.

Whether you agree with this..person's...work ethics and moral standing when hiring artists and animators or not, it is a bit of a slap in the face as far as reality checks go. This is a representation of a promonate thought pattern in the freelancing industry. Like anything, understanding is the key to survival and success.

In light of this...article... it does highlight my own limited knowledge on the subject of self worth as an artist. It takes much time and reasurch to find what contemporary pricing's are for who and what, not to mention finding the right contract for the right job. And above all else: a confidence that what you, whatever it may be, is worth paying for.

(Sorry for the very jarring written structure. It was had to be object with what I wrote, so i deleted a bit.) I'd write more, but fear getting any more distracted from animating then I already have.

Spent today divided between T-shirts designs -I have figured out both deigns and now just have to tweak their compositions and finalize- and my Music Video. I have started to animate the rig i have created for the main character in the music vid. Hopefully I can get rig's legs and torso keys finished for the infamous double bounce in the next day or so.

This is a refined version of yesterdays sketch. Have fixed up Jane (she thankfully let me sit and sketch her quickly today) but will have to make her smile a bit more cheery. It doesn't really stand out at the moment. And I need a picture of Terry. He looks a bit scary and little too much like an toothy infant for my liking. There's only so much I can do with my shocking memory and a facebook thumbnail. And he needs more personal bubble. Frank looks pretty cool. It's what I get for sketchin' the tall bugger all the time.

And obnoxious people who need two seat in order to fit their giant fucking ego should be sucker punched.

I think I have the narrative walk timed out. Only the feet, with an estimation of what the head and body will be doing. Hands come later. I had to feel out a couple of extra steps, and i placed a small time out in the walk where Archie 'adjusts' himself before continuing on. I thought it broke the walk a bit so it was easier to follow, as well as emphasizing the, ah, area. hehe

Today I also did a bit of work on my t-shirt designs. Figure if i don't do a bit of everything each week, then I'll end up missing something altogether.

My first idea is -as seen in previous posts- Karnie the Koala; the Drop Bear that ate Micky.

Originally, my other idea was going to be something to do with zombie animators as that seemed to be a repeating theme during the last year and a bit. But i stated doodling bobble heads, which ended up as Terry, Frank and Jane. I think it's a sign. SO the other idea is vintage collection animator bobble heads. Woo.

Lots of sketchable people on the train today. I drew this young 'trendy' (he thought so, I'm sure) dude that struggled vainly the entire 58 minutes not to fall asleep. Chest infections suck smelly hairy balls.

Manged to get in a sketch today, although not feeling very kindly. I never really relised how much I actually rely on oxygen until I started to suffer a shortage. Funny that. Don't know what you've got till it's gone.

Well, aside from choffing, spluttering and overall gasping for air today, I have managed a small amount of progress on a couple of long over-due side projects that need a considerable less amount of concentration (this is where the oxygen comes in) than animation. You'll probably be sing those soon enough too.

Also, managed to rope Casey (other half) into helping record a couple of walk cycles (normal, a couple in character and an appearance by Monty the Border Collie) and even managed to download virtual dub. But then I realized I didn't know how to rotate the video footage. After a far amount of brain hurt-age later (see above note about oxygen) I proceed to..give up, and upload this post instead.

First: today we had our mock advertisement campaign presentations.

Enough said, really. We have a pritty special class. To what kind of special I'm referring too, well, it's up to interpretation. I'll just leave it at some sketches done in class during today's extravaganza.

Then: This is Katie's and my mock advertising campaign for our screening night. We decided to appeal to the nurturing side of humanity. Katie came up with the direction and feel and we bounced of each other to get the end result.

Katie did the words and music and i did the animation. Sadly it probably could have been a bit better, but for only having to do an animatic i think our awesome-sauce teamwork created a pritty darn good effort. Go team us!

Adopt an animator?

This is more of my trying to figure out a good double bounce walk to suit my music vid. I think the timing has been sped up double time (i forgot about the 15frames rule for walks, and because it's a more groovy walk it'll be more cruzy than fast paced) when I went from 12frames to 24frames. But you can get an idea of how the left shoulder leads the action and the patterns that happen in the walk. In order to get this i took into account my previous attempts, as well as taking some live action reference footage. Using the footage i marked the timing for the contacts, passing positions, the highs and the drops in the walk cycle. I also marked in the and lgs of the shoulders and hips on those frames. The rest I just looked at and used it more as a reference than a copy. I still want to try to do more actual animating rather than rotoscoping. Hopefully the end result will be more appealing and unique. hopefully.

How cool would it be if we could draw stuff INTO reality. No, really. Think about it... I did. I imagined being able to draw big ol' buttons into being and ordering her to chew on the ears of anyone who played their really shitty music on the train without plugging in headphones. It was good to see where everyone is up to with their narrative/trailer/animatic. So many ideas, so many different ways of thinking and compiling said ideas: our end of year screening is going to be Brain ka-ploding.

In a good way. Besides the crunch, I'm looking forward to seeing them all on the big screen.

My sketch upload today shows and idea for the AAA's 'when i grow up' poster comp -only to be continued if i get enough free time, so this is probably all i'll get done for it- a caricature sketch of Monty our boarder collie and the coffee knome that lives in my coffee cup at tafe.

Also: waking up at 5:30 in the morning seems to ensure once it hits 9pm my brain shuts down and i start operating on a servery under-developed auto pilot. hence the lack luster posts recently.

Obligatory train bits: So many sleepy people on the 4:30pm train. Also, I witnessed chivalry today! My eyes melted in astonishment! Really: I'm using googly eyes at the moment (see saving grace). It was freezing tits-into-ice-cubes cold today. Women walked away lopsided and uneven after today's drop in weather. And there was this ill prepaid lady at the train station, waiting for a bus in only a business shirt. I could hear her teeth chattering thought the sound of my own clanging molars. Then this random dude with a fag hanging the corner of his mouth wearing wayfarers in the dark -a blues brothers fan?- walks past, takes off his jumper and drapes it over the human iceberg lady's shoulders. She don't know him. He ain't know her.

It seems as though Bobbie has inspired a continual slog of train/commuter related sketches. Today's: Train Crutches.

There were no seats and very little personal space avalable when I stepped on the train this afternoon. Foolishly I decided I wanted to read a big hefty book (Drawn to Life .Vol 1) so I sat down between the seating isles. Bad bad bad choice. Crutches. Everywhere. You can't look up, or use your peripheral vision. Fat smelly busnessmen to your left, hairy legs to your right and a woman with much to short a skirt down from them. And I don't care who you are, there are some women (Will)no one wants to peek on. *shudders*

To day was...interesting. Went a bit cock-a-doodle-doo for a bit (woooo, bad pun) and set up an impromptu date between my brain and the 13 established principles of animation. That was fun and awkward, as most impromptu dates are.

Also, begun line testing ACTUAL EAPs (just for you frank) but there's not enough progress from today to make it worthwhile posting. And I began to re-think my music vid walk cycle thanks to some very insightful ideas from *gasp* Frank.

Other than that I tried to come up with a T-Shirt design. So far all I have is Carnie the killer koala, a drop-bear who ate micky and thinks all animation is finger lickin' good.

...yeah, i am seeing a therapist. Stand by for the straight jacket.

Also: boozy train bogans make the rest of us look like fucking saints. Even rednecks look like refined polite human beings next to them.

Rigs and Toys

First on the agenda: I finally saw Toy Story 3 on Friday night -and yes Olly- I too am man enough to admit I shed a tear at the end. Wonderful experience, but for one thing: Frank, I kept seeing eye darts and blinks everywhere and begun to analyze their purpose to the story without fully realizing what I was doing until a moment or two later.

Today's picture is of a rig I have been constructing for a character in my music video. I've wanted to do rigs up for my narrative characters, but I'm not entirely sure as to the direction in which I'll be animating that one, so creating a rig for them is second to conditioning the story and churning out linetests (and hopefully soon some EAP's *whistles* dum dee dum).

This is essentially a cartoon of Jordan Barrington, whose music I'm doing a vid on. I call the character JB because I'm lazy like that. Although only a picture, it is an actual rig, with nested goodies and what not. He'll be playing a Unukalhai guitar, so his body and clothes are made to function without being over bearing, as the musical instrument will be the center piece. I still wanted his face to be appealing though functional. His hair still worry's me as a design element. They guy has the white man's afro (sorry dude, it's the harsh reality)just like my dad (sorry dad :) ).

Overall it's not finished, But it's something.

Didn't get as much animating done as I would have liked today, but at least I worked on something. Finished the BASIC line test of the double bounce cycle today. now i have to play with my timing and spacing and make it work with the tone and flow of the music.

I'm thinking (hoping) that once I get this walk cycle figured out and the feel of the character, everything else will start to kind of form visually and come together. >.> I call it intuitive animation *cough*bullcrap*cough*

A sketch for everyday I missed blogging + today. hup-hup-horray. We worked on eye-darts in class today. Have a little more to do before i can post (mainly linetest) but I did notice today that I am still having trouble with jumping into animating strait off the computer. Today I tried linetesting the eye-darts only in flash, and it still seems too impersonal for me to be able to communicate character and personality. I still need to flesh things on on paper to begin with. Weird.

Today was a good day. Started out with a discussion on what we'll (the 2nd years) will be focusing on in our last semester (wooooo, scary) in the course. Also watched some really interesting videos (really want to buy that 'best of rage animated DVD) aaaaaaaand some not so interesting ones (to each their own, no?). Then worked on a small task for Jane to do with experimental video. I really only just meet the requirements with the task, but I got the gist of it and am thinking about doing one or two more to try different things.

The rest of the class I spent thinking about the music video we have to complete. I am hoping to include a few different criteria into it in order to -1 meet all criteria with less stress and -2 do so with better quality in mind. I have a song that I think I should be able to use, just have to double check everything.

Among some thumbnails, a foot-tap test and sketches I managed to start the beginnings of a line test of a double bounce walk-cycle. Was heaps of fun, and looking forward to doing more. Any and all critiques are welcome. :)

Tomorrow we begin animation exercises on blink/s. Also, I think i will replace Archie's (narrative character) hair for a beanie with pompoms. Can't decide on a hair-doo and hats are kind of my thing.

Where to start.

After stopping something, the hardest part is to begin again and push on, to move forward and trudge up that hill that's not really a hill at all but a round (if not bumpy and pot-holed) word that just sort of roles forth. It's akin to the saying "Time goes on but history repeats itself". And when that lumpy worlds spins out of control and zips haphazardly and a little life endangering down a slope; that's the fun part. Oh, it's ball bustingly scary, even for the whacked out doped-up adrenaline junkies that hide behind our ears (that's why your mother always tells you to wash behind them, did you know? True thing) but really, that's what makes it all worth doing.

It doesn't really need saying, but I've been festeringly sick in the head and heart (aka: mental and physical counterparts) for something like two stinking months. During that time everything but getting up to go take a long satisfying crap has become almost too hard. I mean, i like getting sloshed as much as the next near starving student, but feeling it's after afters for over eight weeks gets a little tiresome. Before you ask, yes, i've tried drinking myself OUT of being hung over but I don't think it applied too well to this instance.

To come to the point of this little spaz of writing, when looking at a computer screen doesn't fry my eyes extra crispy Texas style I've been trying to keep track of things (somewhat) by reading emails and watching peoples blogs. And in one of them, Frank (he and Aundrea are both reincarnates of Jesus. Not blaspheming here, it's another truth you probably didn't know of. May the great 'Shepard that flocks us all' into candy-cloud heaven strike me down if i lie) made a pretty good point. And considering who his past life was, I'm willing to bet it's pretty damn accurate.

Writing things out helps you sort them out. Helps with he problems and dilemmas, the guilt and the anger and with channeling and focusing your create-tivity!

And he's right. By doing so I've discovered something wonderful. In the last two and a bit months of feeling like a stepped on, vomity, pussy messy and bloody left-over bit of snotty tissue, three things have kept a 'smile on my dial'.

2 you don't need to know about.

The other: Animation.

I started this course in 2009 to give it a go. To try and see if maybe this was 'my calling'. And you know what.

LOVE.
ANIMATION.

I've never had cocaine, acid or heroin, but I'm assuming that if i sniffed all three together through a twirly straw at once from a cocktail with a slice of lime and one of those cute flimsy umbrellas on the side the high and its addiction would be something similar to what I'm starting to feel for animation.

Seriously. It's deliriously wonderful. Well...that may have been an actual delusion at some point, but who can really tell?

Saw how to train your dragon. Died. Came back from the dead as a zombie and saw it again. Died once more.

Want to know that favorite part? The character animation. The first time I saw it I just went to watch a movie. The second time, I studied it. Did you know that in almost every scene, nearly every character has a different look on his/her/it's face? They all spurt out empathy like a badly bandaged sinking ship, but every face is different. And this is because the characters THINK! they really think about what it is that's going on, and this leads each individual computer animated face to contort in a different manner from every other faces. I almost cried it was that beautiful. Instead of focusing on the story I spent the whole time during my second sitting trying to watch every-other character as they chewed through their thought process in a very viking-like manner. I'm surprised my heart didn't burst it swelled so much with all the feelings it captured from the screen.

Saw the original Jungle Book for the first time in only gawd knows how many years. The flow of the lines and the deliberance that the characters move with. It had the same feeling. The characters THINK. Because they think, they feel, and what they feel drives to think again.

I am no longer learning to animate purely to find work. I don't do it because I feel I have to. I've gone from doing TAFE and doing it well to get good marks to feeling like a barely living piece of shit that's become obsessed with animation as an entity. Thinking about and wanting to do animation if only because I'm DOING ANIMATION. I feel like chicken shit, but I'm chicken shits that's god well gonna do animation. Loose a leg? Fuck you god, I'm doing animation. Loose both legs? It's only a flesh wound, fuck you I'm going to go do animation.

Basic animatic and Colour test

This is my test run animatic. There were a whole lot of issues with flash dieing on me (had to make the animatic in two parts) and then I had to put it into windows movie maker to add the audio. The scratch audio recording is not for keeps (at one point, I have the old woman asking the boy "what the fark are you doing here?". That will NOT be in the final edit: since I'm having trouble settling with the final dialog, i decided instead to try and get the feeling across more. also, the next part 'beware the yo-yo' is not going to be in it, i was having trouble with timing and spacing, and decided again on feel, rather than the words final outcome.)

The Music is by an old school acquaintance, who has agreed to help with the musical track side of things. I may use his work in the future, make a music video out of it in thanks.

Also included in this post is a color test of the flashback sequence (maybe with sienna and burnt overtones) and a layout idea for the environment in which all action bar the flashbacks take place.

This is a project I worked on during the break. As a thank you to my other half's family (he's the really evil looking one) I drew their family portrait, but as caricatures. This was really hard, really time consuming, but crap I learn't a lot. Defiantly feel it helps when coming to character design and distinguishing features.

Just finished designing my business card. It's going to be a 2 sided matte card at 90x40mm. Haven't posted in a while, so I figured I'd post this.

This was done on and off for about 2 months. Every time it looked like I was about to inflict gross amounts of pain on maya or just my computer in general, I'd work on this a bit.

Hopefully in a couple of days I'll have my actual animations to post.

Hullo all.

This is both an update and a call for us all -including myself- to get a move on in terms of organization and fund raising. Jules Faber has been awesome and has now supplied dates for the Cartoon Conference. I've inserted a blurb from the email he's sent me below, as it enplanes the dates in a little detail.

'The Stanleys themselves are on the Saturday night - the 14th. Conference will take place over the 13th and 14th (followed by the Stanleys that evening). There'll be other activities on the 12th for Members, but they won't be what you're after anyways. The 15th will also see 'recovery' stuff but again that's generally a bunch of hangovers sitting around gasbagging and no real stuff for you to be interested in (I imagine).'

So there you have it. Jules is really exited about our enthusiasm and seemed blown away by the response and amount of people who've expressed an interest -I don't think he thought anyone would be seriously interested or have any intent to follow up on getting down there. So lets not disappoint and make a real effort to get this shindig to come together. If we make a good impretion and follow through with our intent, who know what connections we could make or where they could lead!

So now we have the dates and know it won't interfere with our Screening night (17th of Nov), we can start really planning things out.

On the fundraising front, Terry, the amazing and astounding man that he is has already followed up the idea of a BBQ and Character day/s. He's takin' the matter to the top of SBIT and we are now just basically waiting to hear back from them. Fingers crossed. As for Bunnings, I've selected the three closest to Southbank to chase up on about having a BBQ day there and what it entails and am waiting to see where that goes. Another idea I've been looking into is fundraising chocolates. But i want to hear back from you all about what you think. If we can get them, and are willing to spend a little time selling them they tend to make money quite successfully and fast. I am willing to spend my tax return money on buying the boxes, as long as i take that back out once weave separated the cost form the profit. So, let me know asap what you think about that idea.

Also, anyone with any ideas on how we can make some more moo-laa and planning our roadtrip send them through! The more we have to work with the better.

Ok guys, I'll let you know when i have more info on this, so please let me know what you think and all that jazz.

Exream Wii Posing - Maya

These are shots of posses done in maya today. The first 2 are different angels of the original finished pose. the second 2 are my playing with extremes.

I'm finding maya a real challenge. With drawing, i can always play with angles and shapes to create the illusion of depth, where as with maya, you get the whole 360. So every angle has to work, or there is something wrong with the overall pose. Its mind boggling, frustrating and awesome all at once. I think my brain gave up on me after three this afternoon with it.

Another thing i'm finding i'm having consistent problems with is with the limitations of the rig. I always seems to twist it to far or bend it the wrong way.

The only solution i have for these hurdles at the moment is review and practice. practice practice practice :)

My first layout it the white and red one. I ended up deviating from this backgroung because it ahd too many elments, i couldn't settle on a colour sheme and...my computer chrashed with the version of i like. >.> The second involeves death. CRITEC: I found this assesment piece to be the same as using and completing a project in flash for the first time. I looks quite shocking, and as an animation/model (more the model) it's not quite functional or up-to-sratch.

I learn't that maya hates all organic beings, is vindictive and that it has turned my beloved Smurf-turd against me. But:

It was so much FUN!

And the amount of information cramed into my head in this short amout of time is taking my brain a while to chew through. Its billiant, the feeling of having a couple of brain cells rub againest each other again. I'd only had tumbel weeds blowing between my ears beforehand.

all in all: now that i have -finally- completed this excersise, I feel that i can do SO MUCH more in maya. Its like people landing on the moon. I've made contact: now to find the aliens, robots and the moon cheese.

My critique on this: #@!*. In retrospect of this being a 'walk cycle' the actual walk part of this -as in the feet/legs movement- is what i spent the lest time on. The most trouble I had was in the arms, closely seconded by the hat.

I crated the walk buy just line testing -about 4/5 times- just one step of the cycle so i would cut down on work time. Looking back there's a slight difference in the fluidity of the second step compared to the first and when the witch goes to put her foot down it lingers in the air a tad too long. Both things i probably could have improved if I'd lines tested BOTH step instead of just one.

the hat: I think maybe it is something i should have animated on '1's' instead of '2's'. To me it stil doesn't work. It looks fun...but it doesn't work.

The arms: actually kind of happy abut that. Thanks to the brilliant advice/sujestions from some second years -*.*- i attempted to screw real world biomechanics and 'brake' the arm. And whad'dya know it seems to work!

other bits: should have paid more attention when drawing the stipes on the stockings: don't bugger up to much but should have made them more uniform. Also, her furtherest boob looks a bit sick.
